Pulled this quote from Baghdad Burning

"They killed a wounded man. It’s hard to believe. They killed a man who was completely helpless- like he was some sort of diseased animal. I had read the articles and heard the stories of this happening before- wounded civilians being thrown on the side of the road or shot in cold blood- but to see it happening on television is something else- it makes me crazy with anger."

It’s a tough world, and when your enemy is in the habit of playing dead so he can blow you up when you try to determine whether he needs medical attention, well then, that is the kind of war you get. Wars can be fought with predetermined rules, or they can be fought with none at all. Most are fought somewhere in the middle with lots of rules that often go unenforced.

While war is a horrible thing, it is sometimes necessary and the actions of human beings, good and bad, are only magnified. When good things happen the rush takes you higher and when bad things happen, the pain is usually deep when it doesn’t result in your death.

But wars must be fought. Whether or not the current situation in Iraq will result in a net positive remains to be seen but no matter what happens, I will hope and work towards that result.
